Who Doesn’t Love Cake For Breakfast

I woke up this morning to a loud crash. I had no idea what it was but could tell it came from downstairs. I flew out of bed and stumbled down the steps to find a great big mess.

Noodle is having her sleep over tonight for her birthday and wanted Angel Food cake.  Which I had never made before last night. I followed the directions oh so carefully and I think it turned out fine. I took it out of the oven and turned it upside down on a glass bottle of worcestershire sauce.  I was on a roll. I left it on the counter to cool and off to bed I went.

Seems the temptation was too much for Thing 1, as she decided that she herself would also enjoy some cake.  Let me just say there was worcestershire sauce EVERYWHERE (which does not smell very good to say the least) and little shards of glass all over the floor.  Fortunately I don’t think the glass bottle falling broke any of the tile. Not the best way to wake up, especially if you aren’t much of a morning person like me.

For some reason I bought 2 Angel Food cake mixes at the store. I washed the pan, the extra cake mix and the handy dandy container to put the cake in and threw them in the truck. When we got to school I asked MamaB if she would do me a favor. She is now at home baking a cake.  I don’t suppose I can get her to go and mop my floor though.

  • Ah Thing 1, you little devil. I remember on my 16th birthday my stepmom (who is one of those cake decorator extraordinaire types) spent all day on my cake. And just after I got home from school, the temptation apparently was too great for our english setter Marshmallow and he jumped up and took the most gigantic bite out of it (like half the sheet cake). I guess I was just lucky the poor dog wasn’t murdered on my birthday.

I bet if you asked MamaB she would mop your floor, lol.
